Fixed smoke hatches of Marc-Kds type are designed to separate smoke zones and create smoke containers in accordance with binding fire regulations.
They are used mainly in large-scale public buildings and commercial facilities such as shopping centres, warehouses, production halls, sports facilities. They are flexible separations of smoke zones and their low installation requirements make them the ideal solution for places where it is necessary to separate the smoke zone directly under the roof or ceiling. No dimensional restrictions mean that the curtains may close very large areas.

Principle of operation
The curtain shell is fixed with metal fasteners (bolts and screws) to the building structure - ceiling, walls and lintels. The curtain, hanging freely under the weight of the bottom metal strip, creates a smoke barrier, controls the flow of fire gases and separates smoke zones directly under the ceiling.
Construction
- shell of the curtain is made of non-woven glass fibre, normally available in silver-grey colour;
- a ballast bar is installed along the lower edge of the shell;
- the curtain is extremely lightweight and its simple installation with metal connectors makes it an aesthetic and extremely durable separation solution;
- curtains may be connected in modules, creating a product with unlimited size.
Smoke curtain of Marc-Kds type and dimensions 5m x 5m was tested in conditions simulating wind pressure. The curtain withstood the load of 18 500 N, which combined with the surface area of 25 m2 provided the result of 740 N/m2. Tests proved that Marc-Kd curtain is the only product of this type in the market, classified as Class II of wind-load resistance.
